Mario and I explore the Ludwigsburg Pumpkin Festival, which is about 45 minutes from the house. This is a yearly festival focused around pumpkins. Every year has a theme and this years was Pumpkin Forest. During this festival different events happen from making the biggest pumpkin soup, racing in a craved out gourds and carving pumpkins. Food and decor are all themed around pumpkins. I tried some pumpkin ice cream which had cinnamon and sugar with pumpkin seeds mixed inside the ice cream, definitely was interesting, but wasn't in love with it. I learned from their website, that the pumpkins are grown in the area of Ludwigsburg and Stuttgart.
The festival is held on the grounds of the Ludwigsburg Palace and gardens. The gardens were still in bloom, which made for some pretty pictures. Also in the garden is a fairy tale section which has rides for kids.
