I joined my friend Stephanie and her family for a weekend retreat.. We headed down to Garmisch. When you drive there you drive in Germany, then cross over into Austria and then back into Germany. As we got closer to Garmisch you can see the snow covered trees and mountains. It reminded me so much of Colorado and Alaska, two beautiful places. The hotel has a log cabin theme which had a huge fireplace in the middle of the lobby. Also here is a write up on why they named the hotel as they did. We didn’t have much time to explore but we were able to see the Olympic Ski Jump and the Partnach Gorge. The Olympic Ski Jump which was used in the 1936 Winter Olympics. It has been modified in 2007 and when you climb the top of the jump you are 62 meters or 203 miles above the ground. From the Ski Jump we walk about 20 minutes to the Partnach Gorge which was gorgeous. The Partnach Gorge was declared a natural movement in 1912.
